Laverty and Linfoot crash out of 250GP

Eugene Laverty and Dan Linfoot both crashed out of this morning's German 250GP losing the front at different corners. Yorkshireman Linfoot went out with 24 laps to go while Irishman Laverty's front Dunlop left it until eight laps left before it decided enough was enough.

KTM scored a one-two finish with Hiro Aoyama taking the win and Mika Kallio coming through for second - scoring his debut podium on a 250 and making him the first Fin to finish in the top three since 1976.

Andrea Dovisio made most of the running after the lights went out and was chased by Alex De Angelis, Hector Barbera and, later in the race, Jorge Lorenzo, who is still being tipped for a works Yamaha MotoGP ride next season.

In the dying laps, Aoyama and De Angelis were battling for the lead but the Italian left the door open on the final corner, allowing both KTMs to pass and cross the line. Reigning world champion Alvaro Bautista finished a pretty average weekend by crashing out after just three laps from a lowly ninth spot on the grid and finishing just out of the points in 17th.
